Painter Bernheze

Housing in Bernheze is generous: detached houses on large plots, former farmhouses, and new homes built along the old village ribbons. What they have in common is timber, and a lot of it. Where a terraced house has a front and a back, a detached house in Heeswijk-Dinther or Nistelrode has four elevations, often a garage, a carport, a barn and a run of timber cladding or a veranda as well.

That volume makes preparation the decisive factor. We sand, fill and prime every element before applying two top coats of a premium Sikkens, Sigma or Dulux system, and we take the time the job needs. It is the difference between paintwork that lasts three years and paintwork that lasts eight.

A recent project just across the municipal boundary in Berghem gives a good idea of our approach. The client wanted the house repainted in its existing colour, RAL 9002, a soft grey-white that suits the light-brick houses of this region. During the inspection we found wood rot in two frames, so we carried out wood rot repair with epoxy first and then repainted the whole exterior as one job. The result carries a single 5-year warranty certificate.

The lesson for any homeowner in Bernheze: have the timber checked before it is painted. Painting over soft wood looks fine for a season and fails the next.

Older farmhouses in the municipality often still have single glazing in their original frames. While the frames are being repaired and painted we can fit HR++ insulating glass into them, which keeps the appearance of the house intact and makes a noticeable difference to comfort and heating in a large, draughty building.
