Painter Vught

Vught has three distinct types of housing, and each asks for a different approach. Along the Taalstraat and the Vughterweg stand historic villas with bay windows, verandas, dormers and deep fascia boards — a great deal of timber, much of it ornate. The neighbourhoods built in the 1960s have simpler family homes with standard softwood frames. And on the edge of the Vughtse Bos you find modern detached houses with large glazed panels and hardwood or coated frames.

A villa can easily have three or four times the painted surface of a terraced house, so preparation matters more than anywhere else: degreasing, sanding, filling, priming and two top coats. Skipping a step saves a day now and costs a full repaint later.

Most timber frames in Vught are due for exterior painting every 5 to 7 years. A frame that is repainted on time stays sound for decades. A frame that is left for a decade develops wood rot at the bottom rail, and repairing that afterwards always costs more than the paint would have. If you have just bought a house and do not know when the exterior was last done, a free inspection tells you exactly where you stand.

Several villas in Vught are listed monuments. For those we use breathable paint systems suited to historic timber, coordinate with the heritage authority where needed, and repair damaged sections with epoxy systems that are accepted for protected buildings. The original profiles and details are preserved.

We use professional systems from Sikkens, Sigma and Dulux, matched to the exposure of each elevation. All work carries a 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship, confirmed by a certificate at handover. We work Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 17:30, keep the site tidy, and plan around school runs and home-working days.

Inside a villa there is often as much to do as outside: panelled doors, staircases, window seats and picture rails, and high ceilings that are best finished with an airless spray. If the house still has single glazing in its original frames, we can fit HR++ insulating glass while the frames are being painted, which keeps the look of the house and cuts the heating bill.
